Welcome

Cancer Tales: Communicating in cancer care is a workbook that aims to improve communication skills for all people involved in the care of patients with cancer.

Clear and effective communication between healthcare professionals, patients and their families is essential for ensuring the best treatment environment.

Cancer Tales: Communicating in cancer care is based on the play “Cancer Tales” by Nell Dunn. This play is based on the real-life experiences of five patients with cancer and their families.

The workbook was developed under the auspices of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS), Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and OpenMinds, with assistance and guidance from an editorial board consisting of palliative care, pain and communications experts

“The Cancer Tales workbook is a valuable new method to inform and teach healthcare professionals to help patients with cancer through their experience. It has already received good feedback from palliative care specialists, which I feel is well earned.” Lukas Radbruch – President of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC)
